Volunteer Name: Bambi Montgomery

Volunteer Position: Mitzi Freidheim Child & Family Center Classroom Assistant

What do you do in your everyday life? What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am an Olfactive Expert…I develop delicious scents! I am currently developing my own line of luxury home fragrances called HIVE.

With the little free time I manage to carve out, I love to travel!  I also enjoy visiting art galleries, live music, shopping. I love experiencing new restaurants…total foodie!

When did you start volunteering with Children’s Home + Aid?

I started volunteering with Children’s Home + Aid eight months ago.

What made you want to get involved with Children’s Home + Aid?

I was adopted from Children’s Home & Aid Society!  I just wanted to give back to the organization that cared for me until I was placed with my incredible parents.

How has your experience been so far?

It’s been completely amazing and utterly rewarding!  Here I was thinking of how much I have to offer and just the opposite…I’ve been offered so much! Lots of hugs, accidental mommy calls, sweet words, tons of giggles, brutal honesty lol and through these innocent eyes, the ability to experience old things as if they are brand new! In addition, volunteering curbs my baby fever…lol!

Have you learned anything new about yourself as a volunteer with Children’s Home + Aid?

Absolutely! I’ve learned that my ability to love is matchless. I’ve learned that time is the most valuable asset I have to offer. I’ve learned that the more I give, the more I receive!

What keeps you coming back?

I’ve fallen in love with every little person I’ve encountered! And my bonus, I so enjoy the teachers as well! I hope to have made some life long friends.

Can you share a volunteer experience that had an impact on you?

After switching classrooms (I went from 2-3 year old children to infants), I popped in for a visit to my 2-3yrs…it had only been 1 week! When they saw my face, their faces lit up, they stampeded my way yelling my name to reach me with the biggest hugs!!! That was EVERYTHING to me! Meant so very much!
