Through our Ahlquist Center for Policy, Practice and Innovation, Children’s Home & Aid utilizes the collective voices, skills, and wisdom of its staff, volunteers, and advocacy partners to actively engage our lawmakers, rule makers, and supporters, by providing education and information to ensure sound public policies on behalf of children and families.
Children and Families Need You
As of July 1 thousands of state contracts to care for hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans will be suspended, because the state cannot legally pay for services without a budget.
It is critical that Governor Rauner and legislators get serious and agree to an adequate budget now! The cost of failure is high. Even a short shutdown creates immediate, deep damage to human lives. We don’t operate assembly lines or lay pavement. We take care of people – human lives that don’t have on-off switches.
Without a budget, there will be no winners and countless losers.
