Arlene Happach was named as Executive VP and COO of Children’s Home & Aid on July 31, 2014. In this role, she is responsible for statewide programming in child welfare, early childhood and clinical and community services.
Arlene previously served as the Director for the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare (BMCW) from September, 2009 until returning to Illinois. As the Director of BMCW, Arlene was responsible for managing the state-operated Bureau which is in charge of delivering public child welfare services in Milwaukee County for more than 2,500 children and their families each year.
Arlene has more than thirty years of child welfare experience. Prior to moving to Wisconsin, Arlene was President and CEO of Children’s Home Association of Illinois, leading initiatives that retained qualified staff, increased programming, and improved outcomes. During her tenure at Children’s Home, Arlene also served as Chair of the Child Welfare Advisory Committee and of the Child Care Association of Illinois.
Arlene received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bradley University and immediately pursued a master’s degree in clinical psychology. While working in direct service and program development for several years, she returned to Bradley University to earn her MBA. She has also taught psychology, human social behavior and management at the college level.
