Providing Safe, Supervised Parent/Child Visitation
The Children’s Home & Aid Central Region Family Visitation Center (FVC) in McLean County provides a safe, neutral environment for supervised visits and exchanges between noncustodial parents and their children. Located at 403 South State Street, the FVC offers a safe, child-friendly site for supervised visitation and exchanges for families experiencing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. The FVC is scheduling visitation services for clients with Orders of Protection and who are not involved with the Child Welfare System. The program offers a safe haven for parents and children and the nurturing setting offers a warm and comfortable environment for visitation.
Supervised visitation at the FVC is solely for victims of domestic violence who have no involvement with child welfare.
The FVC’s primary concern is safety. The FVC enforces various security protocols to enhance safety of the families using our Center. The FVC’s procedures are designed so neither parent has contact with the other during the course of services. Other safety features include:
- Separate and distinct entrances and parking areas for each parent
- Staggered arrival and departure times.
- Security camera monitoring
- Panic buttons
- 2 way mirror
Before a family can utilize FVC services, both parent must schedule and complete a separate orientation with the FVC Supervisor. Orientations can be scheduled by calling 309-834-5206.
The FVC will try to accommodate court orders based on scheduling availability. If a family has been court referred to services, the FVC will file a court report on a quarterly basis.
The Family Visitation Center was the recipient of the 2005 Program of Excellence Award from Prevent Child Abuse Illinois. In 2008, the FVC was presented the McLean County Bar Association Public Citizen Award, for significant contributions to the legal field.
