Emily started at the agency as a human resources intern before becoming the talent engagement specialist for the human resources department. Emily received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Organization Psychology and Communications from the University of Illinois. She continued her education at Purdue University and received a Master of Science Degree in Communication Leadership & Advertising.

Emily learned about the agency volunteering as with the Family Cares Center. The Family Cares Center is a partnership between Children’s Home & Aid to provide free, bilingual onsite mental health counseling and family wellness services. Outside of work, Emily spends many weekends volunteering with Children’s Home & Aid clinical staff to run a year-round addiction prevention and mentoring program for youth affected by the substance use of a family member.

Emily combines her passion of advancing the well-being of children and families with her human resources background to help build diverse teams of advocates that continue to strengthen Illinois families and communities. Her favorite thing about Children’s Home & Aid is how the employees pride themselves on working together to help and inspire the future generations. Emily feels fortunate to have a supervisor that is so supportive. Her supervisor allows her and her work to feel valued and important, and ultimately makes Emily grateful to work at an agency with mission-driven employees.

Emily encourages prospective interns to apply. She suggests that an internship with Children’s Home & Aid will not only teach you but will allow you to see how bright your future is and how far the agency will help you grow.
