Foster Care services provide safe, secure and nurturing homes for children who have been separated from the care of their families of origin. When families are unable to care for their children, Children’s Home & Aid works to find suitable homes for them with foster parents who can provide the appropriate care based on the children’s individual needs.
Each year, Children’s Home & Aid provides Foster Care services to more than 1,000 children who need to be placed in foster homes because their families of origin are in crisis and are unable to provide for them. There are many children who need loving homes. Unfortunately, there are more than 16,000 foster children throughout Illinois and not enough foster parents.
As a foster care provider, we believe that change happens within the context of the family and through the creation of partnerships. Therefore, caregivers, children, and their formal and informal support systems, including foster caregivers and kin, are all considered PARTICIPANTS in the change process, and are all important TEAM MEMBERS. We understand all families are different, and we respect the unique values and diverse culture of each family system.
