Holiday Cheer for the End of the Year
The Holiday Campaign has come to an end – we are extremely grateful to our supporters for providing assistance to nearly 2,000 children, youth and caregivers this winter! In the Chicagoland area, more than 12 local partners and 240 individuals donated to support kids and families in our programs.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the needs of kids and families have changed. Gift cards give families the freedom to buy what they need for the holidays, empowering parents to best support their children. From kids in foster care to caregivers in our Parents Care & Share programming, the support we receive helps families meet their needs over the holidays – whether it’s buying gifts, purchasing groceries for a holiday meal, or helping caregivers buy diapers and wipes. In addition to our partners donating to our gift card fund, our four area early childhood centers’ Parent Pantries were also restocked with diapers, laundry detergent, and other home goods.
None of this could have been possible without your help – and the support of partners like Akerman, Aon, Workday, the Chicago White Sox, Groupon, Radio Flyer, Morgan Stanley, Enchanted Backpack, Smith Bucklin and Wildwood Elementary Girl Scout Troop #25296. Additionally, Children’s Home & Aid’s Board of Trustees, Hinsdale Auxiliary, Woman’s Board, and Emerging Leaders Board provided invaluable support. Thank you to our board and auxiliary members for your efforts this winter season and throughout the year!
On top of all the amazing donors already mentioned, two Chicago sports icons also went above and beyond this year. Chicago White Sox catcher & first baseman Yasmani Grandal and his wife Heather donated 300 gift cards to give to families. Over the summer Yasmani and Heather welcomed kids and families to enjoy games in box suites through their Young Yazmanians program. Additionally, Chicago Bears Linebacker Roquan Smith donated 200 gift cards to support children in our Youth Services programming, including those who attended our 2nd Annual Secret Santa event in partnership with Pep Rally Take Over, Project Hood, and other partnering community organizations.
Every holiday season we, and the families we partner with, are honored by the immense amount of generosity we receive from all our supporters. Thank you for your donations and allowing us to provide holiday relief to families in need. We are grateful for your generous support!
