Featuring Gregory Cox
Gregory Cox is a dad, a grandfather, a community leader, and a staff member of Children’s Home & Aid’s Thriving Fathers program. The Thriving Fathers program is an integral part of our work to strengthen families and keep children from suffering the trauma of entering foster care.
Gregory overcame his own challenges to become the dad he is now to his eight grown sons and 13 grandchildren. In his early 20s Gregory lost custody of his children to the child welfare system due to his struggles with substance abuse. Through hard work and with the support of his community, Gregory got sober and regained custody of his children. He has spent the last 25 years helping dads become stronger leaders and protectors for their families and helping break down institutional barriers that can make it hard for dads to stay engaged in their children’s lives.
“I share my story with the men I work with in our Thriving Fathers program so they know I can relate to their struggles,” Gregory says. “I walk with the dads in our program as they work to break the generational patterns that have caused such pain.”
Join us on June 15 for Gregory’s inspiring story and his call to action for all of us to help children and families thrive.
