26th Annual Chicago Blue Bow Kick-Off

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each can play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in our communities.

After careful consideration, Children’s Home & Aid, in consultation with members of the Illinois Blue Bow Committee, has decided to cancel the April 1^st  kickoff event in light of concerns over the COVID-19 virus. Each year the Chicago Blue Bow Kickoff event is a wonderful start to the month of April – National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is a time to recognize that we each can play a part in promoting the social and emotional well-being of children and families in our communities.

Since 1989, the national Blue Bow Campaign has existed to raise awareness of child abuse and prevention. The Illinois Blue Bow Committee, run by Children’s Home & Aid and a partnership of social and community service organizations, has annually hosted dozens of events throughout the month of April—the nation’s Child Abuse Prevention Month. The purpose of these events is to bring attention to the pervasiveness of child abuse in Illinois and to educate the public about resources available in our communities to help parents and children prevent abuse. We will make decisions about other events throughout the month of April in the coming weeks as we gather more information about the progress of COVID-19. Our work continues to promote awareness of child abuse prevention and we are always looking for new, innovative ways to share the importance of this issue on social media and online. This year we will double our social media efforts, and we are encourage everyone to follow, reshare, and tag us in your own Blue Bow posts throughout April!
