Preparing At-Risk Children for Full-Time School
The Preschool for All program provides children who are at-risk academically with preschool services.
Preschool for All is based on a 2 hour and 30 minute per day, 180 day per year program model. The program’s instructional schedule reflects a balance of active and quiet play, teacher-led and child-initiated activities, and small and large group activities. Program activities are designed to help children develop problem-solving, self-regulation, communication and critical thinking skills in preparation for the transition to kindergarten.
Enrollment for Preschool for All is based on the following three priorities: child abuse and neglect cases, adolescent parents, and lowest income families. Eligibility for the program is based on an at-risk priority system that identifies risk factors through a screening and parent interview process.
