Dear Birth Parents:
We can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now as you sift through profiles and try to make a decision. We are Mark and Kim and we want to thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We know this isn’t an easy decision and admire you for considering adoption. We are honored and appreciate that you are reading our profile, and as you do, we hope that you get a glimpse of our lives together. We hope you see the love we have for each other, our family, and the time we spend together. We want you to know that we whole-heartedly promise to extend the same love, adventure and time that has built our family to your child.
We met right after graduating college and Mark finding his first job. We found ourselves in the same friend circle and quickly became close. When we met, Riley, Kim’s son from a previous relationship, was almost 3-years-old. He was immediately drawn to Mark, and they have a deep bond beyond stepfather and stepson. After about 6 months as best friends, we began dating. Shortly after dating, we were engaged, then married 2 years later. After Kim finished graduate school and Mark settled into his career as a Producer, Kim found a career in Public Safety.
We always knew that we wanted a big family. We love the idea of raising children together and for Riley to have a brother or sister. Kim had some minor medical issues growing up, but had a successful pregnancy with Riley. Just as we were planning our family, Kim fell ill. After a long medical journey, we finally had a diagnosis of Lupus. While Kim has been in remission for years, the medications that keep her healthy are the very ones that do not allow pregnancy. With Kim’s medication, and the danger a pregnancy could cause, we decided to grow our family through adoption. We have so much to give and are excited to start our journey! We have a blended family and we think it is neat the way that our love has gone beyond that of the “traditional” family. Riley is excited to have a brother or sister (or both as he has said), and has so much big brotherly advice to pass on.
We currently live in a quiet subdivision and are grateful to have a large extended family close by. We are happiest when we spend time together. We love to have dinner together every night, if possible. Riley spends time with his Dad, but we make sure to make the most of our time when we are all together. We lead a healthy lifestyle and love to be active through sports, outdoor activity, vacation or whatever weekend adventure we can find. We also like to have plenty of family nights involving cards, board games and movies.
Mark, About Himself
I’m originally from a small suburb of Chicago. I am the youngest of six children. I grew up in a fun-loving Catholic home filled with games and sports, and it was always an exciting place to be as a kid. Today I always seem to find some kind of activity to be a part of. I’ve always been an athlete, playing baseball throughout college. I enjoy playing softball, CrossFit, eating healthy, bike riding and going for walks. I play the drums, love listening to music and I have a real passion for video as well as photography. I received my technical degree in video production and am currently working as a Video Producer creating commercials for businesses. Being close to my family is something I’ve always appreciated. I coached Riley’s Baseball teams where I helped kids not only become better players, but better men and women. These days, I like watching Netflix, and playing games and sports at home with my family.
Kim, About Herself
There is only a year-and-a-half difference between siblings, so I grew up very close to my brother and sister. I live in the same city I grew up in and my mom lives here too. We are the center for family gatherings and holidays and I love to have company over! I grew up in an Italian home that is very in tune with our culture. We have annual festivals, church events and many traditions that are passed to each generation that I find important to share with my family.
Being Italian has influenced my passion for food. I love to cook from scratch and prepare healthy meals for my family. I prepare our traditional Sunday Pasta Sauce, but also experiment with ethnic foods.
I have a solid career and always pursue new goals. I am driven, which I feel is one of my best qualities. I love learning anything new, and having a career that I am passionate about allows me to do that. I had Riley while in college, and while his father and I were never married, we raised him to be a loving, polite, and well-rounded young man.
When I am home, I love to cook, go for walks, ride bikes, play softball and watch movies. I also play guitar, sing and draw when I get creative. As we get older, I hope to show our children, through example, to have confidence, try different things and to follow your own life’s passion.
Thank You + Closing Thoughts
Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about our family and our lives. We truly appreciate the weight of the decision that lies in front of you. We are committed to raising children to value themselves, have confidence, and to follow their individual interests and passions. We also will teach them to value quality time with family and friends. We want to show our children God through the Christian Faith. Our main goal is to raise loving, healthy, confident children who follow their own path in life with our support. We hope to show them the world through travel and to show them all experiences life has to offer.
We wish you the best! Mark, Kim and Riley
