Children’s Home & Aid is launching a $135,000 campaign to digitize our adoption records.
It’s something that most of us take for granted…access to our birth records. But for thousands of adults adopted as infants through Children’s Home & Aid, this life-changing information is both difficult and time-consuming to uncover.
Today, many of our older adoption records are at risk due to age and the fragility of the materials used at the time. In our 135th year, we are committed to preserving this irreplaceable information by digitizing 19,000 records dating back to the early years of the last century.
The sense of urgency is real. If these records are not preserved soon, they may be irreparably damaged, meaning that vital information about the adoptee’s early life and circumstances will be lost to them and their families forever.
Thank you for your support of this important and transformative project.
