Educational Advocacy
Helping Parents with Challenged Children Achieve Success
The Children’s Home + Aid Educational Advocacy program focuses on meeting the educational needs of at-risk children, ages 10 to 13 years. This program provides educational support and advocacy for children at risk of academic failure, truancy or suspension Educational advocates meet several times a week with students and provide services that include tutoring, computer lab, mentoring, counseling, in-school assistance, and home visitation to alleviate behaviors contributing to academic failure, truancy, and suspension. Educational advocates work closely with families to promote parental involvement in education because they know students have the greatest success when their parents are involved with their education
The Educational Advocacy program is supported by LAN #23 Family Centered Services funding from the Department of Children and Family Services and the federal government. This program works closely with Bloomington Junior High School on referrals and educational services. Referrals to the program can be made by contacting Bloomington Junior High School or the Educational Advocacy Program Coordinator at Children’s Home + Aid.
Educational Advocacy is offered in the Mid-Central Region.
