Parents Care + Share
Reducing the Incidence of Child Abuse Through Group Support
Research shows that child abuse and neglect is higher in homes where parents are isolated and do not have a support system. The Parents Care + Share program provides support to help bring parents out of this isolation.
In Parents Care + Share support groups, parents learn positive ways to deal with anger as well as new, positive skills to help them relate to and discipline their children. They discuss parenting challenges and offer real world solutions to meet these issues. These groups help parents and caregivers reduce stress, increase parenting skills, improve social functioning and improve self-esteem.
Although Parents Care + Share is geared toward helping parents, its primary benefit is to serve as a highly effective child abuse prevention program. Parents Care + Share also offers unique companion groups to help children improve their self-esteem.
The only requirement to participate in the Parents Care + Share group is the desire to improve parenting skills.
Parents Care + Share is offered in the Metropolitan and Mid-Central Regions. For more information about Parents Care + Share, please call Earl Kloppmann at 847-640-9590, ext. 26 or email to ekloppma@childrenshomeandaid.org.
