Taking Steps to End Child Abuse
3rd Annual 5k Run/1Mile Walk
to Benefit the Family Visitation Center
In memory of Duncan and Jack Leichtenberg, and in celebration of their lives, you are invited to attend the 3rd Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk to support the Family Visitation Center (FVC) of The Children’s Foundation of Children’s Home + Aid.
The FVC offers a safe, neutral site for visitation between the non-custodial parent and child(ren). The FVC provides safety protocols that keep parents separated during visitation or exchange drop-off and therefore in compliance with orders of protection and no contact orders. The FVC also provides supervised non-custodial parental visitations and exchanges to clients experiencing a high conflict divorce, domestic violence, child abuse and stalking. The FVC offers a safe place for you and your children. Our primary concern is safety!
The race will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Tipton Park (see map of race route):
2:30 p.m.—5k Race Begins
3:15 p.m.—1 mile Family Walk begins
Cost to participate is as follows:
- $25 for single participant
- $40 for two participants
- $50 for a family/team of 3 to 5 participants
- participants 12 years of age and under are free.
Online registration closes on Wednesday, April 17, at Midnight. However, you can register on-site at Tipton Park the day of the race.
Due to reduced funding of this program by the State of Illinois, proceeds of this race will be used to increase the level of critical support to clients of the Family Visitation Center.
All participants must register. The First 100 participants that register will receive a T-Shirt.
Register by mail (mail-in form) by April 14, 2013.
Please join us as we honor Jack’s birthday month. Families, friends, co-workers, relatives are invited. Don’t forget about our four legged friends. This is a great opportunity for a run/walk for them too!
We are looking for volunteers to help between 10 AM and 4 PM, while participants join in the 5K race or 1 mile walk at Tipton Park. Please select a volunteer position/time slot from the list shown below, and enter that information in the Volunteer Position/Times Available field on the volunteer registration form.
